Location: The property is located just on the outskirts of Torredembarra town, although the address is part of Altafulla(located 10 mins drive away). The town of Torredembarra would be 35 min walk, however it is not advised as the N340 and Autopista Mediterraneo separate the Brises del mar estate and the town, one needs the wits of a fox and the agility of a cat to make it alive, even then success is not guaranteed. There are hiking paths leading to various towns, but a car is ideal. There are many towns and villages tucked away in the hills which are all made easily accessible through use of these motorways, Reus airport is roughly a 25 minute drive away, the beautiful roman city of Tarragona is a must see which is also only a 20 minute drive away. There are many beaches along this wonderful coastline, Torredembarra being one of the largest. As for the house itself, it is within the affluent estate settled in the picturesque countryside, breathtaking scenery wherever one looks! There is a small childs playground as well as basketball courts and football pitches located further down the street. In terms of shopping, restaurants and any other activities wished to be conducted, then a 10 minute drive into Torredembarra is all you need. Accommodation: The house in which you stay is located on the same property in which the family stay, I must say it is a rather large property and therefore one must not feel that they will be intruded on in anyway. The house itself could be described as a glorified poolhouse, with one medium sized bedroom(double bed), a decent sized living area including fully functioning kitchen, television, internet access, 2 sofas, at least one folding out into a double bed, the second may have but I did not feel the need to find out. All beds are very comfortable including the sofa which I slept on most of the the time. It obtains all that one may need other than a kettle and oven, so for all you tea and coffee lovers, you will have to boil your water on the cooker, then again what is the difference?? Also included is a medium sized shower with toilet and sink as a third room. During my stay, the amount of people varied from 1 to 5, sleeping arrangements were easily made with the amount of sleeping space provided, even though the accommodation is small I found it very comfortable and welcoming. For those of you who prefer to have your personal space I feel I must add that with the property being quite large and beautiful, it is only natural to want to spend most of your time outside. After all, who would travel to Spain to sit indoors. The garden is of a decent size and is full of flowers and other planted vegetation, with various different spots to bathe in the sun. As I am sure you are aware of, there is a fantastic pool in the garden also, it isn't the biggest, but still great for a swim, the deepest end reaches just under 6 foot and the shallow roughly 3 foot so is ideal even for children and those who can't even swim! Parking space is provided on the property, however we had a bit of an Austin Powers moment and decided to park the car outside the property which was perfectly safe and secure. The Family: On arrival I was greeted by Valentin(father) and Julia(mother), Julia speaks little english, but with a bit of probing and inspiration she will speak a little more, they have a daughter who speaks perfect english as well as speaking french, spanish, catalan, german and maybe more. (Impressive I must say). As I arrived alone and without any form of transport, the family were very enthusiastic to invite me to lunch as well as drive me about various towns to show me around and buy anything I needed. The hospitality shown to me was next to none I have experienced, they truly are a wonderful and loving family and to be honest, without them I feel that my time in Catalonia would not have been nearly as great! I probably should also mention they have a wonderful Spaniel named Elvis, he is extremely docile and loving. Do not be put of by his barking once you reach the gate, he is just saying "I love you all very much, welcome home" haha! Conclusion: I stayed here for 3 weeks and now I am in smelly old Marseille wishing I hadn't left. (Skip Marseille unless you find a thrill from being searched like an animal in front of hundreds of people by police once you step off the bus) I thoroughly recommend staying in the mentioned accommodation as well as driving around as much as possible, all the wonderful locations in Catalonia will surely be pointed out to you by the wonderful Julia! As long as you have transport, everything you could possibly want from a spectacular holiday is nearby. Now I shall add some photos of the property as well as the surrounding towns and cities nearby. (PS. I most definitely plan on returning next year and hopefully for a longer period of time so I anticipate that this shining review will not backfire on me and I do not find myself having to search elsewhere) Enjoy your time in this beautiful region!!!
